Maybe that will motivate the obese to lose weight, and the fat people to avoid becoming obese.

Obesity is not merely a number on a scale. It's an unhealthy condition that requires a lot of eating and avoidance of exercise.

There's increasing evidence that just being overweight increases the likelihood of many health issues. Allowing oneself to go from overweight to fat to obese takes time and (in my opinion) a total lack of self-respect.
